How often should i change the powder?

do you run Daitom all the time? i know some do but this i would not do ....
do you have plants or just fish

I only used it once on my 55 it made the tank clear as a bell, then iused it on a 20 that had an anlge problem and the the filter seemed tainted the filter turned green.

whenever it looks like green or discolored. i change it everytime i use it.

every time you use the filter you should put new powder.......and so u know you can buy a box of Diatom Powder for much cheaper at home depot than at a fish store that will last you a life time
