Diatom XL as a gravel cleaner!!

I adquired a Diatom XL for $50 bucks with a Phytom gravel cleaner so I thought about using the Phytom gravel cleaner extension on the Diatom. It worked great.....

They used to make a gravel cleaner attachment specifically for diatom filters.

Never thought to do that, I've alwas stirred up the substrate to get dirt into the water colum but the vac would save a lot of time.

Give it a try, it worked fine. The Diatom is powerful, it sucked the dirt in the gravel very strongly almost sucked a fake plant lol. Anyway I think is good.

the guys with reef tanks could lower their phosphates without spending an arm and a leg on phosphate binders and potions if they would just vaccuum their tanks more often
