Ok just did water change by mistake i poured a little bit of water on filter now it is not working as good so did i just screw it up or should i try to clean media also if i did have to clean media how do i clean it with out screwing up bacteria?.

Since aquarium filters are made to pump water, I doubt that a bit of water on it would do anything...
Maybe you got some air in the chamber (canister filter) and its output is affected?
If you want to clean the media, use a bucket of aquarium water, or dechlorinate a bucket of fresh water and give them a rinse.

you clean media by givibg it a swish in some tank water... if water got into the motor then it might be messed up

?Give it a gentle shake (more like try to vibrate it), if there is some air in it from the water change this may shake it loose. Or maybe the impeller went out of position?

How long can the fish last without a filter? because i think it is ***** because i turned it on and it started humming and making bad noises like is was going to go BOOM man this sucks i am going to have to beg my mum to buy me a new filter since i don't have enough cash this really really sucks.
i can't pull it apart the filter is ok but i think the powerhead is ***** should i try to open the top of the filter.
