It's hard to tell (because of the picture quality), but they look like healthy V. spiralis roots to me. I would replant them though... (if they're not already)
They look fine, if you want just replant them a little deeper. Be sure not to plant them deeper than the roots, they don't don't like to have their leaves in the soil....
Ok, sorry for the crappy pics had to use the ipod camera because I couldn't find the good one. I Just had them like that to get pics. Also I just had one were it looked like the rhibosome died, then the leaves started to die and I didn't want that to happen to pretty much half my tank lol. So brown roots aren't dead roots? (I am really new to aquascaping so I thought brown = dead)
