Ok I will start by saying that I have had my tsn of about 2 months with no problems at all he was in my 180gl with a royal clown knife and an and Senegal bicher,I recently pick up a 5 in Pseudopimelodus bufonius or Giant Bumblebee Catfish and wondered how mean or aggressive can they be b/c I think he killed my tsn, when I woke up this morning I found my tsn dead with the hole back half of his body eaten off (see pic ) pic 1st of the bumblebee and 2nd of my tsn

IT COULD HAVE BEEN THE KNIFE THEY ARE KNOWN TO E AGRESSIVE WHEN THE LIGHTS ARE OFF

I really do not think it was the knife as he has never been aggressive with any of the tank mates. I also have a small school of 8 silver dollars that he leaves alone and a small sail fin pleco bout 4 in,it just seems to me that the bumblebee cat was the the guy as he is the new fish to the tank and I have not had any problems before this

Pseudopimelodus Bufonius will eat any fish or part of a fish that fits in its big *** mouth. You would have seen a bulge in its belly, though, if he ate the rear of your shovelnose.

I now keep my bufonius by himself, as he is too predatory and assertive (see pic of him locking jaws with my red devil in my avatar.)

pretty sure it was the knife that is the exact carnage left by my knife when he tears off into 6" goldfish....................

Good call. I keep mine in a 30, too.

They are definitely a mini-monster, and one of the most formidable fish i've kept. Hope mine grows to 10", as they're supposed to.

Here is a closeup of the business end of mine.
