Hi all,

I had a tank wipe out about 2 years ago, reason i dont know.

The survivor was this wild caught loach. When we brought him he was nice and fat, but since after the wipeout he has not really been eating and now he is so skinny you can see his bones. He nibbles at the smallest amount of things everyday. Its been like this for over a year, i thought it was just this loach being super picky with food.

You can see in the pic his body proportion doesnt match with the tail showing how skinny he has got.

Pic 1 when i got him one of the three, Pic 2 now.

My question is the same question as the other thread:

Is this contagious? And can this be cured?

Thanks

Sorry this thread shoudl be in Loaches and not Loaches Media Lounge, can any mods move it please.

Wow, poor guy.
My school of loaches recently had a battle with this disease. The way I treated it was to give them a dose of praziquantel (a worming treatment), and then stuff them full of protein.
Crushed pond snails are a great source and i fed my guys massivore pellets.
Feed them 3 times a day and it beefs them up real fast, make sure to do extra water changes though.

But because your loach is so far gone and is being picky with his eating, Im sorry to say, it may be too late. Still give it a go though, he might pull through.

Good luck.
