please help have 55 gallon tank with appropriate filter. had set up for 2 weeks. have 10 albino tiger barbs and 10 normal ones. 1 normal is acting weird and have had 4 reg. and 2 albinos die in 8 hours (when i checked water to time I had to waist with tank).

this is a uncycled tank

what should i do i did a 30 % water change

I would say do more water changes until Ammonia is 0ppm. Also you could use an additive that will Detoxify ammonia. I've used Ammo Lock from API. If you can find it you could use Seachem Stability to speed up your cycle as well.

Stop feeding for the next few days. This will at least keep waste byproducts from killing off beneficial bacteria. If you have healthy tanks innoculate the uncycled tank with water from the established ones. frequent Water changes are your best friend at this point.30% is a good volume. I often cycle tanks by squeezing mature filter media into the new tank to encourage bacterial growth. Good luck.

Well for starters you have 20 fish in an uncycled tank. It takes minimum of 4 weeks to cycle. I would do 25 % every other day for the first week then 25% every third day for the secound week then once a week . Be easy on the feedings, any chance of getting some gravel or filter medium from an established tank? Some lfs will give you this not chain stores as they usually run one big filter system on the whole store. I mean mom and pop stores. good Luck and post your progress. P.S. Don't forget to use prime or another good water treatment.
