Hello i have a 24in jardini aro which right now hes stuck on smelt...I been reading some post here and i found this
Anchovies: These are high in salt which helps the digestive system, but must be fed sparingly (once every two weeks) in order to avoid giving the arowana too much salt."

Do smelt fall under this? Ive been feeding him smelt for over 3 years and hes seems fine. i pick up 11lbs oh smelt for almost 1 dollar a pound. The only thing im not doing is gut wrenching him... i feed him 2-4 peace every other day or 3 days apart... Anyone info you guys can get me would be nice.

I leave them in water for about an hour and add them. They dont make pellets big enough for this guys diet. Those Cheetos things dont cut it lol. It cost more then smelt n shrimp for the amount i have to feed him if i keep on daily feeding. Ill juat have to make another batch oh mixed food and mix that in.

It depends on what kind of smelts you buy. I feed lake smelts which should be salt free. The saltwater smelts have salt.
