whats a good diet for pbass to bring out the greens and reds? im using shrimp and silversides right now with feeders 1x a week

All depends on the fish....

I think it varies. I've seen guys with cichla with amazing colors and they're only getting feeders (whether or not the feeders are gut-loaded, I don't know). I've also seen very drab cichla that are on feeders.

Mine are all on the same diet but their color intensity varies even within the same tank.

I just feed my cichla what I think will keep them the healthiest (non-live food like krill, pellets, mp) and watch the colors developer or not develop.

I've heard Spirulina enriched food will bring out the blues and greens. i had my 11" dovii on a staple of bio gold and he was crazy blue! i've also heard the caritanoid(?) in krill/shrimp, will bring out the red. Of course mood, hierarchy/status, water conditions, substrate color will all affect the fishes colors.

good to know my substrate is natural colored and i have fx5 with a ac110 on my 150g tank with driftwood so my water should be good i do 50% water changes every week, it just seems sometime the colors pop and othe rtimes they dont

what do u reccomend for decor
