As the titles says. What kind of diet can i feed my hoplarchus psittacus. It is currently 3inches and i got it to eat sinking pellets. It is still very timid or scared when i come near the tank so if you guys can give me ideas on what to feed besides pellets and frozen foods.I did research on them it said to mostly feed them meaty foods, and is it possible to get them to eat vegetables.

I had a large pair for a few years and I fed mine mainly spirulina based flake and NLS thera pellets. They get HITH easily and will eat fish they can fit in there mouth.

WOW literally no one.

I moved this thread to the general cichlid discussion forum. Not many folks open threads in the media lounge without pics. Hopefully that will help drum up a few more responses for you. :)

There is a large breeding group at my work, they aren't picky. We feed high quality pellets, vitamin enriched flakes, nightcrawlers, F/T krill, mysis shrimp, corn, peas, and they occasionally steal capelin, siversides, and whole shrimp from tankmates. Their food is occasionally supplemented with vitachem to help avoid HITH.

Thxs Justin :D

So if by getting HITH is it caused by poor water quailty and their type of diet. I am currently feeding hikari sinking pellets. I have usually by zoo med spirlina flakes but i am currently out lol

That's a good start but variety is key.
