Diet question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
No. If it's not a regular food they eat then don't consider it. Not meant to process these kind of foods as well.

Feed it to your dogs if you have dogs! Or you can give it to your friends that have dogs. I'd take some off your hands if I lived close by. ;)

Mammal heart is recommended by some for specific reasons, but generally I think the above answers it all. Deer is too tasty for fish and the fish aren't designed to process mammal flesh.

I highly advise against feeding fish organs, especially liver. Even humans (who have eaten deer livers for thousands of generations) suffer medically from eating it. For us, eating liver once a week is probably far too much, so I think that means never for fish.

You still got it wrong. Bovidae NO cervidae NO. Bichir are not hard wired to consume beef, and the fatty acids found within beef, anymore than they are deer.

I never meant to ask if they should eat it. I simply meant to ask would they if they came across say a dead antelope in a water body for example. Also beef heart is commonly fed in aquariums to many carnivores as a treat/growth supplement. (Though my polys have only ever had pellets and homemade tilapia/shrimp/bloodworm mix)

My question was actually prompted by the beef heart weirdness. I never could see the point in it (protein numbers kind of speak for themselves) just curious as to whether a wild one would even perceive it as food. Basically the more I read the sillier it seems. Pound for pound my money is still on tilapia.
