What's the difference, which one should I get for my 50gal for a future baby RD? I want something strong, yet wont make my baby RD struggle for his life, and something Eheim.

I have an eheim ecco for my 29g, I dunno why I chose that one though:nilly:

Oh I see. So what's the strongest eheim canister I can use for my 50 gal without blowing my fish away? Should I choose one based on GPH or on fish tank size?

I would go by GPH. I'd do around 6 times tournover. For the eheims you can always slow the flow down while he is young and turn it up later when he becomes bigger and stronger. Personally I'd go with a pro 2 2026.

How do I calculate turnover again? GPH divided by tank gal?

I'm looking at the 2126 and the 2128, both come with the built-in heater, and strict freshwater.

1. Do you think I can get away with a 2128? I like the 3 media baskets and higher gph.
2. Does the 2128 also have that knob that adjusts flow rate? just making sure.
3. Also, will an AC110 be too powerful for my 50gal in combination with an eheim pro 2 2128?

Yes. But I wouldn't worry too much about that. I generally get an Eheim that is rated for about twice my tank size.

1. yes, but I would definitely reduce the fow rate a bit
2. yes.
3. I don't think you need it.

The 26 and the 28 use the same impeller and the same head assembly. How do you get more gph from the same unit on two different boxes?

Most people install the Eheim wrong. They don't place the return tube properly. I'd normally tell people to use an additional filter to agitate the surface just in case.

Is it also the same motor? ;)

The "head" is the whole gray thing on the green cannister. Yes, they're interchangeable.

"interchangeable" does not mean identical. There must be a difference in the motor, otherwise there would not be a 26 gph difference  The hoses and everything else is identical, as you already stated.

Weird:confused:
