Are there any difference ? I am not understanding them clearly...

I am hoping someone can chime in and help me identified the difference..

Reasons;

1. To better understand disease so that i can treat it the right way at the first try.

2. I am having a problem.

I got 4 new fish on saturday. The pulcher was showing sign of injury on his head (a bump), 24 hours later it had developed into an open wound. Tonight, I noticed a white fungus had grown on the wound.

This morning, I noticed that my CK (That I have had for years) had developed a "bloat", it seems that he had swallowed a marble.

So I concluded that both are caused by the bacterial disease that was brought in with the new fish. I didn;t QT them as I should since I was running out of room (I am still kicking my butt on this one).

So, with these 2 symptoms, are they bacterial related or internal parasite ? (or are they the same thing ? )

The question is:

From what I have gathered, I should try to treat the whole tank with metronidazole acording to Oddball's sticky.

I do have enough Jungle parasite Clear (contains metronidazole and praziquantel) to treat the whole tank. I know Praziquantel are used to treat worms and parasite alike.

CAN I USE THIS AS THE TREATMENT OF FUNGUS AND BLOAT ? or Should I overnight a metronidazole by itself and focus on the bacterial infection alone and not add in praziquantel ?

Can the metronidazole treat the fungus that is on my Pulcher as well or should I isolate him in a new tank and treat him with Maracyn2 ?

Some pics of the Pulcher, I will upload the CK pic shortly..

Are the pics of the dat progression? If so, it looks like he is getting better...If the new pics were first, I would try something new. For bloat, I always fast and use Epsom's salt, the little success, that I've had, came that way. As for parasites and all that jazz, a broad spectrum anti microbial, and/or antibiotic seems to do the trick...I try one for a week, and if that does not work, the other one does. I try my best to identify the issues with me text books though.....

Bacterial infection is an illness caused by gram-positive bacteria and gram-negative bacteria. You will need certain meds that can kill either of the two or even broad spectrum antibiotics to cover the possibility of both. Fungus is not a bacterial infection. Antibiotics are not the solution here. You will want Jungle Fungus Eliminator. If you do use it, no need to add salt as that med has heavy salt content in it.

Internal parasites are another matter. They are simply nematodes, roundworms, tapeworms, etc that dwell inside the internal organs and suck out nutrients of the fish thus those with internal parasites are likely to waste away. Metronidazole and praziquantel are used in this case but this does not cover a wide range of internal parasites compared to flubendazole and levamisole hydrochloride.

Lastly, in bloat, you have no way to determine the exact cause. Whether it was caused by internal parasites, virus, bacteria, simply damaged organs or anything, you will never know unless you dissect the fish. Treating internal health issues are even more difficult.

P.S. I can't see the pics so I'll post my views when I can manage to download them.
