What is the difference between Black and Blue Arowanas? I want one for my 180 that my Tig is in. I have read that Blues may be from a different location than reg. blacks but are the same fish?? My LFS can order a 7" "Blue" for $200 or I can buy a 10" "Black" for $200 plus Fedex. Does anyone here have the lowdown on Blue Arowanas and could educate me? net searches produced very little info.

i believe they are the same.
blacks actually look blue as they grow

I was wondering the same thing.

their is no difference its a con to try to make it sound better

The "BLUE" & "BLACK" Aro are one in the same...As the others have said...Its a marketing ploy...They say its a "rare" Blue Aro, and mark it WAAAAY up....Some LFS people will even argue with you about that fact....I have gotten into it with a couple of them about this.
The Black Aro's actually go through a brown phase, and then a blue phase, and the to what we see as the adults. They are quite a unique fish!

did you beat their petulant LFS asses into submission, jen, or did they remain stone deaf to all reason?

Of course not...lol....They were really adamint(sp) on it being a "blue" aro...lol...
They said, it came into us labled like that, so it must be true! I even went into one store with a full color print out from a web site, showing the phases they go through...and NOPE, they would still not believe me....lol.....The mentality of some of these LFS people is so low....lol....

we had loads of people thinking they had something rare after a fish mag said their are a few rare blue arps just been imported into the UK

but a true aro fan will tell you that they spotted the con from day one

Well, it will be here Friday morning :D man is my wife pissed! $200 for a 7 incher. What should I feed it? Am I on the right track with crickets, earthworms and frozen silversides? I absolutly DO NOT want to feed it live. It will be sharing my 180 with my Tigrinus (Bob) any advice would help alot!
