over at petfun ive noticed that some of their baby jags are really dark almost black, and the others are really light in color almost white. are they different breeds or why is this? still on my quest to find my male.

they differ in patterns. if there small and cheap get a few and grow them out some and keep the nicest one you like. trade the others back in.

It can have to do with stress the dominant one will be light

I agree. It believe it has more to with stress than coloration. I have a small Jag I got from petco. He was about an inch long and being kept with Jacks and Red Devils that were two to three inches long. The Jag was very dark in the store, when I got it home and acclimated into the 55 gal (He is alone in the 55, with 5 giant danios, I going to pick up a 125g in CO this weekend, it will be his new home) it's colors lightened up quickly. light verticle bars, black spots on a pearl background.

thanks. i was wondering because i have some store credit over there and they get their new shipment in today so i was gonna go pick up about 4 of them. i have 3 growing out right now. at least one out seven should be a male right. gosh i hope so.
