Hey guys, i am confused about peacock and pike, what are differences; size, aggression, and color?

peacock bass are from the genus cichla and pike are from the genus crenicichla.

pike have a longer more torpedo shaped body, they tend to be very aggressive towards other pikes. usually are pretty territorial in my experiences. sizes rang from couple inches to 20 inches. altho id say most pikes out there will get to be around 12 inches. probably one of the more common sizes.

i dont know to much about peacock bass but they do have a beefier body and get quite a bit larger. i dont know how big most get in aquaria but in the i think they can get 3'. there are some monsters if u search for peacock bass fishing.

Definitely, although size dependent. Out of a 12" peacock bass and a 12" pike cichlid the peacock is definitely more muscular, bulkier and has a larger mouth.

ty so much, just wanted to know.

I agree Peacock Bass do not defend themselves in the way a Pike of that size would agress. I have been trying to and have successfully mixed a few sp. of P Bass and Creni but it took multiple tanks and attempt's. But ultimately the P Bass would need to be 2x bigger then the pike at full adult size to fend off the attack/aggressive nature of a pike. Listen to Spizz he know's what he is talking about when it come's down to it. Tyranocichla what are your thought's here?

He was wondering which was stronger, not more aggressive or which would win a fight. The most aggressive pbass would be an orinocencis.
