My only experience with Aro is limited to Silver. I am trying to learn the difference between The saratoga, Scleropages leichardti and The gulf saratoga, Scleropages jardinii. From Wiki, Leichardti is somewhat smaller with slimmer with body being 25% of length, where as Jardinii is being 28%.

What about color? Which has more color? What are their standard color anyways? I have seen some darkish grayish ones.

Any information would be appreciated. i am assuming both are legal in the US?

Leichardti is more white and its got like redish dots. Also, their barbells r a lil shorter.

If u youtube the two, u will see the difference. Thats how i learn.

I kinda feel like jardini r usually more darker

That's my impression too after searching online. I probably never seen a Leuchardti, as all I have seen are the darker ones.

Not sure if I am making the right assumption, the mature size Australian varieties are about 1 ft shorter than the Silver, so they don't need a very wide tank to turn around. Matured silver needs a 36" wide tank and I am hoping the Jardinii and Leuchardti can put up with a 24". I have space for a 8'x2' tank, but no enough space for 8'x3'.

You actually will need a wider tank for a lei compared to a silver when it's full grown. Leis don't turn well, silvers do. If fed right leis get huge. Mine outgrew my 300gal, 30inch wide tank a couple years ago. If you get an australian, i like leis cause they're a bit more peaceful, both great looking fish though

Sounded like I may not be able to raise aros .... the space calls for a 24" wide tank, even 30" would be a push. I must say my 27" silver do turn pretty good, seems to be quite flexible. But he wasn't full grown and didn't have very deep body.

Any other folks have full grown silver in a 24" wide tank?
