much appreciated,

The best way would be for you to search the two different types on here and check out some pics.

Palmas don't look like Sens though. Is it possible you really bought a Sen?

Here is one of my Sens:

And here is my Palmas Polli:

Thanks. Looks like I did indeed get a palmus. No idea what subspecies of palmus, but very likely a palmus.

Thanks again,

very cool. it's probably a polli, but if it has a lot of yellow than its probably a palmas or buettikoferi

here are a couple pix of palmas and polli together...you can see the difference very well. as far as palmas and buetti go, they're harder to tell.

an easy way to tell is this: does it have patterns? If not, or if it only has a horizontal line going down the length of the body, then its a senegalus. If it has patterns, then it's not a senegalus.

fyi, senegalus are very often mislabeled as 'palmas' by suppliers and lfs.

yeah, sens are very drab and easy to tell, although they can be a little difficult to tell apart from patternless CB dels when they still have their spots (very small fish), but they still belong to the best genus of fish :D and are wonderful pets
