Hi im trying to get a endli volta around 6", but i just dont know what is the difference between the regular saddle endlicheri and the volta endlicheri. Is it the pattern or the color or the head shape or they are pretty similar. I have a saddle endlicheri in my tank right now. Any comment will be appriciated. Thank you.

Volta denotes catch location. Is this the Volta that Wet Spot are selling? Wild caught about 6"?

Here is the one thing I can comment on. Wild caught endli tend to have a more flattened head and elongated body. Patterns are variable and to me seem as distinct as fingerprints with them. Your typical Captive born endli do seem to have the advantage of usually having a more distinct pattern with larger, darker block patterns/stripes. They do seem slightly 'shorter' looking when compared to a wc and the head seems rounder, shorter and fuller and opposed to flat. The eyes too can sometimes look 'frog eyed' or buggy.

Vancouver_98683 Vancouver_98683 had a post about his volta endli: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/threads/white-volta-endlicheri-update.648366/

He is right around the corner from Wet Spot and Aquatic Day Care so his Volta may have come from one of those.

Just my opinion but I hated endli for the longest time. Was not until I saw pictures of wild caught endli that I started to like them. The captive bred just have a shorter stubbier body and the head is weirdly shaped to me. And don't even get me started on the bug eyes, lol. When I started seeing pics of wc endli I really started likening the look of them.

A regular saddle bichir as your describing is probably a CB/Tank Raise. Based on what I have read. Black and White Voltas have been documented as catch tributaries. Black voltas typically have a rounder shorter head, eyes protrude a little bit more, bands are a squared pattern on most, and basically darker in color.

Here's what the volta that Wet Spot should be similar to. I posted a pic of full body and head close up of my White. Hopefully, members here can post their Black Volta.

I love voltas. To me they have darker bands and a lighrer base. That being said. I stressed this topic to no end. Asking about x catch location vs x catch location. In the end to me some look different even from the same location. Dabola caught in dabola is called endli dabola we dont know if it was born in faranah and migrated.

In horrible at id'ing but to me the voltas and dabola/faranh do look different from eachother based on the bold thick patterns and lighter base color....but i bet that there isnt anything concrete about that.
