The LFS I work at just got in some juv. pbass about a week ago. They are in the 1.5 to 2" range, so still pretty small. I'm THINKING they are orinos, but am not really good at IDing pbass that small, or period for that matter. I know what orinos look like as they get larger, and they are the pbass I am wanting.

Just curious what the differences between orinos and monos are at such small sizes? I figured those were the two possibilities for what they are. Pretty sure they aren't ocellaris, and have definitely ruled on tems.

They have a solid black bar that starts at the caudal and goes to just the base of the dorsal, then two spots after that. They have a crescent or two mound shaped dorsals, but figured that was normal for pbass. Also seem to have a little white/clear spangling in the dorsals right now. Can't find my camera, but when I do I'll take a few pictures.

There were six at the store, brought three home to see what they were. Wanted to make sure they were orinos though before I bought the others.

Thanks!

at that size my orinos didn't have bars, they had slightly elongated spots and the stripe going into the tail didn't go all the way. i knew right away that they weren't ocellaris or mono when i first saw them but i had to ask what exactly they were. and they did indeed grow up to be orinos.

i can't say that all orinos look like that when they are tiny, but i know that mine did.

Thanks! They do indeed look like the monos pictured. The stripe goes into the caudal on some of them, so just going to assume they are monos for now. I paid for three of them, so I guess I'll just grow them out to see for sure. Thanks again!
