Guys,
I have been noticing quite a bit of variation in the body shape of blood parrots showing up at the local Petsmart. The specific thing I am noticing is the shape of the head. The typical BP shape has the big notch in the forehead or it looks like you look the head of a smaller rounder fish and stuck it on the body of a larger taller body fish. These mutants look to have a much smoother transition from head to body. The shape is more like that of King Kong Parrots, but I would not go so far as to call them that. The mouths also close normally. One of them also had no snout/head at all or it had a very smashed in face - this one in particular was quite interesting. I started seeing them in the larger size BP first and now noticed them in the smaller/cheaper less orange size. These smaller ones though were fully colored bright orange.
So after years of being a Blood Parrot hater I have picked up some of these mutants. They are quite personable and I am able to start to see why they are so popular.
Just wondering if Petsmart is getting a deal on the non-typical mutant BP's that don't conform to the normal body shape? Personally, I prefer these to the standard ones.
Wondering if anyone else has noticed this?
Regards,
Patrick
