When i went to do a water change Sat my one male was a light tan like he has been since i got him. Hes a motoro. When i went to feed them Sunday evening he was a dark brown like my larger male is. Is that just that he is getting mature or what? Never had that happen that fast before. Thanks for any info.

can be a diet what are you feeding them, also i noticed when i left my light off over nite, my ray would get lighter and his spots would get more viabrent then durring the day when the light was on

ya only fast color change i have seen is if lights are off. but i can see if u changed food, or background or gravel color it could also do it

In Motoros.. faded patterns are signs of stress, but could also just be a natural pattern.. If you see a fluctuation from light tan to dark brown, the dark brown is probably the optimal color.

From importing, almost all the Motoros came in light tan, but most of them would turn dark brown over a 24 hr period.. with personal experience in my retics, the darker retic always seems to be the healthiest and eats the best..

Ive had these guys for at least 6 months. When i went to feed them today he was swimming in the powerheads . I feed them frozen krill and smelt and they get feeders once a week to keep them on their toes. He looks beautiful today..vibrant colors and such. The one side of the tank turns on in the morning for light and the other side comes on at 6:00 and turns off at 8:00. Thats usally when i come down to feed them.

large water changes would cause my motoros to change color slightly... never thought nothing of it and still dont....
