I am confused regarding the Lapradei varients...

What are the variants available of Lapradei? Why are some greenish some black and some brownish? How do i choose them?

Usually depends on catch location, health, substrate colour and "mood" of the fish.

I think for lap vatients you'll have
Guinea lap
Faranah lap
Nigerian lap
Koloton
Koliba
(Correct me if im missing something else)
Faranah lap - green/ grey base color with drak green to almost black marking.
Nigerian lap - light green/grey/brown base color with green/grey marking, varies catch location.
Koloton - gold/yellow/grey base color with green/dark green marking.
Koliba - light green/grey base color with green marking.
Guinea lap - similar to faranah lap except patterns are different.

Like mentioned above, all color will depend on light, substrate and mood of the fish, it will be hard to choose a fish cause most of them will be washed out due to stress and they are not settled yet.

Thanks all for the input.

What could this be? I bought it off without asking for any information back then when i was just starting to keep Bichirs.

Thanks for input.

One question... is there a "general captive bred lap" or are captive bred laps bound to be from one of the variants?

Its hard to tell what varients are cb laps, we wont know what might be the parents,ex. could be a koliba and nigerian lap, koloton and guinea lap.
Best way is to ask the lfs and let the lfs ask the supplier.

Noted. Cleared up my confusion. Thanks!
