Different coloured ornates?

Just thought I'd post up a couple of pics showing my pale coloured ornate. They were both similar colours when I bought them, but now one has become darker and the other has become quite pale. Both seem happy active and healthy, so I dont think its a stress-related thing.
Has anyone else seen anything like this? Every ornate I've seen is quite dark.

Do you feed them the same food? I have found that food can make a fish change color when I was experimenting pellets on my flowerhorn. Or it's a sign of stress or being bullied by something in the tank.

Yeah they both get the same food, and I can't see any signs of bullying, they're the only two fish in the tank ATM.

One of mine is lighter than the other. Could just be a normal thing or maybe stress. In a lot of fish lighter colors seem to mean less dominance, so maybe one of yours is just less dominant than the other.

I have 3 ornates and one is always pale, he wasn't like that until I got the third one, something to do with rank territory sex or something, they're all healthy, I wouldn't worry.

wait till you have one turn green, I have a 18inch one that has turned green in his old age. still has the tan and brown lines but has a light green almost like an algae growing on him.
