my silver arowana is maybe 5 inches long and eats a good amount of hikari bio pure fd blood worms and a few sinking carnival pellets when there on there way down to the rtc. my question is what other food would be goos to break up his diet a bit to makes sure he is getting everthing he needs

I would get him onto a floating pellet as his main staple, as the bigger he gets the less effective the FD bloodworms will be. Addition foods are endless, crickets, mealworms, earthworms or any other size appropriate bugs, my aro love miller moths. Just be careful that there are no pesticides. Lots of frozen or freeze dried foods too, krill, silversides, shrimp, etc.

Once your aro is bigger it will be more economical to feed fresh and frozen "people" seafood. There is a large variety of market shrimp, prawns, scallops, fillets, etc. that you will be able to feed your aro. Best thing is to keep up a variety of things.

hey mate.. there is a huge variety of food out there.. hikari makes tropical food sticks.. you can't miss it.. it has a silver arowana in the packaging.. likewise there are other brands too.. a mix of sinking carnivore pellets and hikari tropical food sticks will be good.. you could gradually try small bite sized pieces of tilapia and shrimp.. this would be fine for your RTC too.. on a different note.. how big is your RTC? RTCs get big real fast.. not scaring you but when my RTC was 3" he ate an oscar that was 1.5".. and its def advisable to keep small arowanas by themselves..

thanks for the help the blood worms do float and he only eats the carnivor pellets if there no more the 3 inch from the top of the water, the only thing that scares me about crickets and stuff is the hard shells messing with the intestines my rtc doesnt really go after other fish he seems pretty chill im actually working on suplies for a 8x3x3 or 8x4x3 plywood tank right now so they should have room for a few years hopefully.

Yeah I know the FD blood worms float, but that wasn't my point. As your arowana becomes bigger it's going to need alot of blood worms to fill it up, hence the reason feeding them will become less effective.
