I am seriously considering 1 or some P-bass to add to my RTC tank soon.

i was looking around and came across that there is a few different species, can someone post pictures of the different looking Peacock bass please?
also is there a difference in tempermant between them?
i'd want a hungry fish that is agressive when eating perferred.

thanks

we bought our RTC at the same time we bought our first pbass (c. ocellaris), who is now about 10 inches long. Dozer was about 1.5" and our RTC was about 1" then. the RTC is now 14 - 15" long and probably could, if she felt the need, eat Dozer or his new big Tem buddies (10 - 12").

At the rate RTC grow you're going to have to find and buy larger pbass, which is difficult in most LFS's. the largest i've seen in LFS's have been 4 inches and those are all ocellaris. The Temensis and Orinos that i've found available have all been very small (less than 2"), a very good size for RTC chow even when the RTC is small..

here are the pics you asked for.. at least the ones i currently live with.. lol.

the top two are Dozer, my biggest C. Ocellaris, the bottom one is the two large C. Temensis that have recently joined Dozer in the big tank. (Joey, thanks, they are getting along great).

Here's my new 7" mono P. Bass

I love the P-Bass so much, thanks for the pictures they look like nice fish. and the link too. i never knew there were so many kinds of peacock basss.

is there a preferred species to house as a pet vs. others even?

i want a food hungry p bass kind of like an oscar? that grows into a beautiful looking fish that is also a decent size that can tolerate similiar tank mates?

is that fish possible, lol

i think the hungriest pbass i have are the C. Temensis, and they grow the fastest. But i'm sure most of that is an individual personality thing, at least after they get bigger.

you should find dieselmack's and trust's videos of them feeding their pbass.. gives you an idea of what to expect.
