I have been reading the threats for a while now and I have learned allot but I need some peace of mind so I decided to ask the fish gurus on MFK for some assistance.

(I hope I post this in the right place, sorry if not)

I have been keeping fish for about 5 years now but only African Chiclids until now.
I got rid of all the Africans and are only gone be keeping South Americans now (with maybe 1 or 2 exceptions).

Ok

I have a 150 gal tank with 1 x 7” Jag, 1 x 5” Tiger Oscar, 1 x 8” gold Severum, 4 x Red hook Silver Dollars, 5 x 6” Convicts, 1 x 12” Pleco, 1 x 8” Sail fin Cat, 1 x 5” Spotted Cat and ……..last night I couldn’t help myself and I bought a 8” knife fish (witch I know will probably out grow my tank in 1.5 years or so)

Filtration is handled by a FX5 and a 55gal DIY sump.

My question is…will these fish get along; I have had them together now for about 6 weeks except for the knife of course and there hasn’t been any aggression problems and will I be able to add another Green Terror to the tank.

Thanks in advance.

Well i think u should think of all ur fish at max size..jag and oscar..around 14" and so on ...if u do this then u will have a better pictuer if u can get a green terror...also have u seen the Gt that u want...what size?

it will all depend on the temperament of the jag. as they get bigger, jags are hyper-territorial and may refuse to allow tankmates even in a tank of 150 gallons. you may get lucky and have them get along well enough since they are growing up together but I wouldn't add anything else. You're already looking at quite a hefty bioload once the fish all grow into adulthood.

Just keep a close eye on the jag, especially when it reaches 6-7". :)

What species is it? Clown knives get like 3 feet long. Other species stay a lot smaller.

i would say the knife will get pretty scratched up by your cichlids and may stay in hiding all the time, what cat is a sailfin ? is it leiarius pictus ? if so in a year he/she will be 18" long and needing all that space on it's own and then a bigger tank in the long run,i would thin out your other fish and maybe then add the GT depending on the jags temperament,i've personally found jags ok with other large cichlids when they grow up with them but i've also experienced keeping centrals with oddballs and in my experience it doesn't work unless you choose smaller growing cichlids and then they may be on the menu at some point

If it's a 6' long 150 g and not a 4' 150 your luck would be slighty better. The Knife won't make it and IMO (which isn't worth much) I don't think your chances of keeping those fish together as adults is going to be very good. The Jag will be the problem is my guess. Too many plecs, too. The bio-load is stretched to the limit.

Yeah, I would take bach the CK and the Cat both get too big for that tank.
The others should be okay-I wouldn't add any other fish just keep the cichlids.
