What are the different types of texas cichlids, and how do you tell them apart, i've always kinda wondered. I know there is Super red, Blue, Green, REd, Cyano, and carpintis, but i dont know the differences. Thanks.

There's only one texas, herichtys cyannogutatus, also called a blue tex. Carpintis is a totally different species, also called a green tex (even though it's not, but that's common names for you). Red tex is a hybrid, containing rd through specific breeding. Super red is a further extent of the red.

edit....sorry, as far as telling them apart, carpintis have larger "spots", especially around the head, and have the obvious greener coloration. Cyanno have smaller spots, and far more of them.

There are 2 species that have Texas in the name.

Herichthys Cyanoguttatum is the Texas cichlid, and it actually comes from Texas (and Mexico). They have small spots all over them.

Herichthys Carptintis is sometimes called the Green Texas cichlid. It is slightly smaller and has larger spots.

A Red Texas is a hybrid; I know very little about them.
