hello, im moveing some fast growing fish out of our 45g into our new 250g, and am just setting up the 250, wondering about any differennt ideas about airating, different meathods? running a fluval fx5, sand btm, and natural driftwood/river rocks. trying to keep it natural looking. thanks

your lowest visual impact and most efficient way with that filter would be to arrange a spray bar to keep the surface turning over.

just mount the return above water level?

powerheads always give a very cool looking aeration look imo, and a fairly quiet. To much splashing bothers me.

I have my returns just under the water, pointing lengthwise and upward slightly.
Much less noisy then having them above the water spraying lengthwise.

Surface agitation is where airation mainly takes place.

stick your face in the tank and blow bubbles :)

just kiddinggg. ive always liked airstones just really big ones for your tank. You can also put the airstones under the sand if you dont like the look of a big blue air stone.

either a spray bar or a powerhead.

IMHO i think it would be dumb to have an air pump on a tank that size. you would either have many or one really big one

Overflow. Or a powerhead.

thank you guys, went with both , mounting return just below surface and put a big wall of bubbles on the back wall under the sand. just getting paramaters ready for another couple of weeks, then i get the fun job of moveing these guys to there new home. the garr might be an issue. ha!

cant get pics to upload or eles id post them.!!!!!!!!!!
