What was the most difficult yet rewarding fish you've ever kept?

For me it was my Chaetobranchus flavescens. Notoriously hard to keep in captivity due to their eating habits. They definitely gave me a run for my money, and stressed me out a good bit, but they were absolutely worth it 100%. I loved those fish and would try them again if given the opportunity.

i guess tigrinus cats. I've gone through my fair share.

and when i had the same problems a few years back most member on this forum said i was a bad fish keeper

from what i have found with tigs is

they need lots of air in the tank
don't feed salty foods like prawn mussel shrimp or cockel to tigs below 12inch as they cant digest it
dont try to power feed so the tig has a big belly
keep the temp high 84 min
try to get one 12inch +

i lost loads of tigs when i 1st started keeping them most people on the forum said it was my own fault and i was a bad fish keeper but since i stuck to the above tips i have not lost any tigs in over 5 years

apart from tigs most of the fish i keep are easy

FW- Fire eels, hands down the hardest FW fish I've kept yet. Looking forward to the challenge of FW rays and Tigs in the future.

SW- alligator pipefish I had a pair and they where alot of work in general to keep happy, but the day I found babies cruising around made it worth it. Also my yellow-tail purple tang was a challenge to kept happy and healthy. Still miss that fish.

Clown loaches.

I keep dario, yoyo, angelicus, red tail and sids, but clowns around here always are unhealthy and bring ich to my tanks.

So far for me the fish that I have had the worst luck with keeping , beleave it or not is Neon tetras...... no matter what I try they will live for a couple months and without warning just start dieing off a few a day till they are all gone...

Plecos! I haven't kept them in years though, they always die on me. I have never found fish hard to keep at all but when I first started it was always plecos dying.

I am getting a fire eel real soon. What did you find to be the most difficult part? What food did the like?
