My equipment room

was walled off on Monday.

To do water changes, we now have to squeeze through this opening between the washer and dryer. With a 2" pipe on the left and a 2" x 4" on the right, there's less than 10" clearance.

When it's all said and done, the inconvenience will have been worth it. This old utlity room will eventually be part of the new fish room.

Is this supposed to be a question, or did I just miss something? I'm a little confused. Were you just showing people what you need to do to do W/Cs?

It's just an update. Pacu mom has been in the process of building a massive tank in her new home for a while now. I'm sure I'm not the only one interested in how it's going either.

This is the best build going on MFK. Very, very cool! We are all very interested!!!!!!

More pics please! :)

Since you're big into filtration, here's my thread started 1 1/2 years ago on my planned filtration. Yes, we're in year 2 on our fish room project. DIY is a painfully slow process for us. (It has a lot of pics)

Our fish are only going to be moved one more time. Setting up temporary filtration on their current tank, is impractical. I was hoping that the current equipment room could be walled off after everything else was done, and the fish moved into their new tank, but that was impossible. What you can't see in the hole in the wall picture, is the utility sink on the right of the hole, and the 55 gallon holding tank sitting on a high shelf above the hole. When we do water changes, we turn on the faucets of the utility sink which feed water to the 55 gallon tank. We add conditioner to the water, and open a valve. The water gravity flows into our main tank through the mechanical filtration plumbing. Someone suggested moving the 55 gallon tank to the opposite wall, and then we could punch a bigger hole to access the filter room. My husband didn't want to take the time to move and replumb the tank, besides, that would take him away from working on the fish room. Eventually, after the fish are moved, the little equipment room will be converted into a pantry with a real door :) where the hole in the wall is. So the tight squeeze/contortionist act to get to our filter room is a temporary thing, and a much better solution than what I had envisioned we would have to do. I am positive that no one else on MFK has to do a contortionist act just to do a water change! I found it sort of funny, and that's why I posted it.

Oh yeah I just didn't quite catch that at the time, and forgot about the build you had going on. It makes sense now, I was just confused at the time. Sorry about that.:)
