I've had rcs in a 10g since november. I started with 25 and must have between 100-150 at this point. I picked up another 10g at my lfs and I am considering purchasing either tiger shrimp or blue tiger shrimp depending on my funds. All the research I have done has told me that these shrimp are far more difficult to care for. My question is what exactly about caring for more expensive and advanced dwarf shrimp is more difficult? I keep up with water changes, haven't had any rcs deaths, and have a corner filter graded for up to 75g. What else goes in to raising more advanced shrimp?

The tigers are more difficult to raise in comparison to RCS and CRS...

Reason being a lot are still collected from the wild and havent adjusted to living in aquariums yet unlike the RCS and CRS that have been selectively bred by humans for years now for colors etc...

Overall they basically need all parameters to be spot on or they'll just die...

thanks for the input. Maybe I'll go with crystal reds instead of tigers. Are there any other dwarf shrimp that aren't quite as needy as tigers but still display awesome color?

Personally i think breeding Crystals is the most fun, since you can get some amazing colors and patterns through selective breeding
