I've had a 7'' Ornate for around 3 weeks now & I've yet to see it feed. It spends all its time in the shade during the day. I've tried putting frozen krill, prawn, cockle & fish right in front of it but it just swims away. It doesn't get bullied by the other inhabitants.

I've kept an Ornate many years age & never known one so dull. Is this normal for Ornates? I pissed becuase not long after getting it I had the chance to get a Delhezi.

even though there are active ornates, i'd say what you describe is normal. they are quite nocturnal. have you tried feeding at night with the lights off? also some bichirs take a long time before it feels comfortable enough with its new surrounding.

My ornate did the same thing when I first got it. It's probably still trying to adjust to it's new home. Try leaving some food at night also. Once it's adjusted you should be able to see it eat more often and out and about more.

See the above
Also as they get bigger they tend to be out more at least mine are-Anne
