Basically i have purchased a Bosc monitor with the correct sand that the store sold me, after much reading i would like to mix this with mud.

Heres the question...
Can i mix top soil?

it says on package
contains screened and sterilized loam
for creating new gardens and lawns
for building raised areas and rockeries

it doesnt seem to indicate there would be anything harmfull for my lizard in there, except loam- what is it?

Do you think this stuffs safe for him?

Loam is just a type of soil and it is harmless. yes, you can mix it.

the British call savanna monitors bosc monitors. They are just strange like that.

as you can see by the pic hes really tame lol

I actually need some advise as it goes.
When i hold him hes as tame as you like but in his new viv he hisses at me when i put my hand in there so ive stopped getting him out for now as i know picking him up when he doesnt want it is very stressful for him but am i doing the right thing?

And yeh we are a bit strange like that lol

When i first saw mine at my lfars (fish and reptile) i fully believed he had a lovely little savannah monitor haha but funilly enough we have another species of monitor we call a savannah and i looked like a pilock lol

just make sure he knows ur not there to hurt him or threaten him.
spend small amount of time with him daily, just changing his water, moving stuff about type of thing. or just leave ur hand so he can investigate....make sure u have a bottle of vinegar handy lol

He could be cage aggressive, do you feed him inside his viv?
