not trying to be a ass but i tossed out 5 of the $50.00 hagen ones they give different readings after a month as soon as the battery gets week they are not accurate not saying yours are the same but if you buy one keep a stick on or a mercury thermonitor in your tank to gauge the accuracy of your digital reading

I have had these on my tanks for 5 months now. My reef tank has 3 thermometers. A glass mercury, one of these digital thermometers, and another type of digital thermometer. After 5 months they are still within 1 degree of each other. I believe the battery is good for 1 yr.
