After a lot of research about the hybrid catfish i have concluded that i will return the two hybrid cats (6" each) as i cannot handle them in full maturity. They look lovely and hence i bought it on impulse. I can manage to give them a tank of size 650 gallon Max (not enuf after they mature ...to a astonishing 4 feet) .......so i needed to know if i should give it back to pet shop (where he will sell it to another impulse buyer) or release it to a local lake (where they might disrupt the ecosystem as they r not native)...kindly advice and also i stay in mumbai so any MFK stays near here and has a pond or a system more than a 1000 gallons kindly leave me a message...Thnx

P.S: If there is such a possibility that i can keep them...pls advice ..

I say you hold on to them. Most other people dont have or cant have a 600 gal tank.
But definitely dont introduce them into a water system.

I agree unless you can set up a large enough pond for them. In the US, this can be done for as little as several 100 $. I don't see any problem taking them back to the LFS, if they'd take them back. They will continue selling what sells, no matter how big it grows. You will not change anything by not returning them.

Releasing them in the wild would be the worst, by very far and large, you can do to the nature (at worst you can damage or wipe out some feral fish populatons), the fish (who may die a cruel death), your people (who's taxes will be used to eradicate them if they survive and are spotted), and to your fellow fish-keeping hobbyists (regulations will come sooner or later because many do release without thinking, so you will speed up the regulations).

The member Headbanger (who keeps large fish but I think is from Southern India ... may be wrong) may help you find a new home for them.

I have decided that i would keep them and there is a possibility that a local hotel owner might take them for his pond(when they grow more than 24").Thank you guys fr your advice. Appreciated.
