Dimidiochromis compressiceps

Anyone that has ever kept them know when the males should start to color up. A guy gave me 2 and swore that they are both males but at 4" they have no signs of coloring and still have a rounded anal fin. Any ideas? Ill post pics later

Nah, but they would eat anything that fits in their mouth

mine was a late bloomer didnt color up till about 5 inches.

I'm running into the same challenge as I have purxhased 3 about six months ago. All were in the 3' size and had color. The LFS that sold them to me stated they were males that exibited the male coloring and shape. All are about 6-7 inches and are silver with no color. I think the store or breeder was "juicing" with a male hormone. I can't prove it but I have read about this in the past.

3" with full colour = hormoned fish
