I've noticed that Dimilin and Anchors away contained dflubenzuron. This is one of the best meds for treating anchor worms and lice especially on scaleless fish. Well it's not available here in the States anymore . I've looked everywhere locally and online and read in forums that the FDA and regulatory boards put a stop to it.
I can find dimilin-X which appears to contain a similar ingredient but I don't know it's efficacy or safety with scaleless fish. I've also read on koi forums that it's not nearly as effective as the original and seems to stress the fish more (problematic potentially for scaleless fish)
I know Tetra parasite guard contains dlubenzuron along with several other meds, but in comparison to Dimilin and Anchors away it's far more expensive to run.
I have bulk prazi and metro, I would just like to find an affordable source of dflubenzuron.
Does anyone know if the new dimilin-x is as effective? Is it as safe for scaleless fish?
I don't want to use tetra's parasite guard every time I have a parasite just because it's like a nuclear bomb. so many meds mixed in. I'd rather just use the appropriate med for the current problem than to dose with so many drugs at once. Currently, it's the only product I can find in the states that contains dflubenzuron.
If anyone knows about dimilin-x and if it's worth it? Safe for rays and catfish like regular dimilin? Or where to find regular dimilin or anchors away still?
please help a fish loving brother out!!
