dinosaur bichir

Just baught a baby, just wanted to ask if they can share a tank with south american cichlids such as green terrors or jack dempsey's

I don't think so, but i'm not positive. And, just so you know, their real name is senegal bichir.

I just checked the bichir forum, and my suspicion has been confirmed. They can't go with those cichlids. Sorry.

polypterus senegalus. cool little fish. dont know how he would do with those tank mates. maybe grow it out in a smaller tank.

that sucks! thanks for letting me know, can you guys suggest some cool tank mates hes about 3 inches long in a 30 gal right now all by himself.

should i jsut get semi aggressive fish like silver dollars and angle fish? that sort

Those fish would work very well.

I think it could work as long as you get those cichlids at a size where they won't get eaten or too large that they'll annoy your bichir. I've got a 5" green terror with two of
my 12" and 14" bichirs. Alls well since I've got other cichlids to occupy the GT.
