Hi im planning to setup a 20 gallon long low salinity tank maybe 1.05 at the most for a pair of puffers or chromides and i was wondering if anyone has dirted a brackish tank. Ive dirted tanks before and seen how the ph drops and how the water can get yellow. But id just like to see if anyone has tried it or has any thoughts. Also if anyone knows the highest salinity level jungle val can take it would be appreciated.

There arent many people who keep brackish planted tanks here, since there arent many species of plant that work with salinity...

So give it some time an see what happens, maybe some one with some brackish plant info will pop in...

I keep a few plants in just such a tank with play sand and a bit of aragonite sand about 2" deep with Malasian Trumpet Snails out the wazoo that keep it churned. Look at the pics toward the end of my thread below. I imagine any sandy/loamy/clayey substrate favored by the FW planted tank guys would do fine.

If you find a non-green plant that does well, let us know. I need some color.
