I've got a 180gal tank with 1 FX5 and a 40 Gal. sump. The tank has 6 RBP, 6-8 inches, and 2 plecos, 1 6inches the other 14inches. I do not feed them too much live food. They get alot of Massivore, hikari Gold and Fillets. However when I vacuum( every 10-12 days) the tank is filthy. I can't see thru the vacuum tube? Normal or Am I missing something??

Plecos. Get sand. Make sure your water is blowing into your filter intakes.... a circulating pump might help if you have a spot that gathers a lot in particular.

I also do regular maintenance every 10 days. If you are vaccuming the dirt out of the gravel so be it. The filter is still doing its job. and it you are removing then there is less dirty build up in the filter. Just keep up on your maintenance.

Nope, that happens in tanks with gravel. To make the task seem less daunting, do it in sections. Do one fourth each week during water changes, and by the end of the month you'll have done the whole thing, and then start again at the beginning.
