Dirty water

Hey peeps i put play sand in my 680 for a substrait and filled it up and the water is verry brown does anyone have any ideas on how to get it clean i have two filters on it rt now with polishing media in it to start

Yeah, put polish material in the filter and clean it every other day; eventually it will be all out.

Be careful, suspended sand can eat up impellers.

I think I would drag a garden hose into the tank then use a second hose to plumb your overflows to the lawn... assuming you don't have any fish in the tank yet.

empty the tank and take the play sand out.. It is garbage... Silica sand is much better. It also comes in black, white or tan...

pphh its not garbage I have it in all of my tanks and at 5$ for ever 50lbs its well worth the 20-30 mins of cleaning it takes.


Tips: get a 5 gallon bucket..fill it half full and run a hose on full blast in it until water runs clear..repeat until you have as much sand clean as you want for your tank..simple and cheap.
