Just as MFK went on it's down time I managed to locate and negotiate for some large Royal pleco's, something that I have been trying to do for some time.
Excited about them, but they needed to be shipped up the country, overnight, leaving in the evening, and arrived to a very anxious me the next after noon.
Upon opening the box I found that one of them had managed to punch a hole through it's bag, and was unresponsive.
Panicing and with out MFK to turn (I asked some other people I know who are very good with fish) I put them in a poly box with pumps and air pumps, to try and revive it.
The smaller one was quickly responding well and could be released into the tank, the bigger one was unresponsive for the next several hours. But by the next morning it was responsive enough, much to my relief it seemed much more alive.
Unfortunately the bigger one then proceeded to have it's fin's start to rot off for an unknown reason (I guess stress), and with out MFK to turn to I added tannins to the tank, and made sure to do lots of water changes, and the fins seem to be growing better now.
And with the story of some how managing to cope with out MFK I present to you my two new royals, at 20, and 25cm each.
