Woke up this morning and instead of waiting a couple hours to turn on the lights in my aquarium, I decided to do it immediatly. I noticed something was strange, every fish was breathing extremely hard, they were all colored differently, and the water was really cloudy. Then I noticed the filter hadn't been working and it hit me: The filter must have stopped yesterday when the power went out and never came back on. Idk how I didn't notice it last night when I fed my fish. That means the filter had been off for almost an entire day. On top of that my powerhead had broken the week before, so all the oxygen in the tank was coming from the filter flow, which was perfectly fine, until it broke.

I tried to pump my filter manually, but it wasn't working. Then I decided to take the filter off, and look inside. It came off suprisingly easy, which I thought was nice. I looked around inside and found nothing wrong, so I decided to try and pump it again. When I tried to hook it back up, the friggin valve broke off!

Luckily after a couple minutes, I was able to fix the valve and put everything back together. I plugged the filter in and after a couple more minutes of pumping, it worked!

If I hadn't been able to fix my filter I would have been screwed because my parents were refusing to take me to the store today, so I doubt my fish could have lasted another entire day without filtration or oxygen (I would have tried my best to get them as much oxygen as possible all day by creating bubble whenever I could)

Disaster averted :)
