My first attempt at fish breeding ends in disaster. I was watching my Red Devils so closely and they seemed to be getting along well. Anyway, I went back to work and came home 16 hrs later to the RD I thought was a male having been OWNED by the RD I think is a female. I pulled him out of the tank and put him in a hospital tank, added a lil salt and raised the temp to about 80. 16 hrs later he was dead. he was almost 10.5 inches. R.I.P. Luke.

A lot of red devils with large humps that I thought were male, ended up being female. But red devils of any sex seem to fight unless they are a proven pair and even then they still scrap.

I'm sorry to hear this - he was a nice fish.

It is a shame and sorry. But this is an example that not all male and females are compatible and most importantly is that it is much better to raise 3 or more young ones together and let them pair up on their own.

I agreee shadow but I thought I would take a chance. Should have tried it earlier in my vacation so I could keep a better eye on them. I blew it this time.

Wasn't trying to be critical or anything just showing an example to newbies.:)
