Hey guys & gals heres the situation -

Most recently we've bought a few more decorations and added 2x larger discus (~13-14cm) to our existing community of 4x other discus ranging from 8cm to 15cm. Question is we've had our largest discus for a little over a year and a half and its about 2cm bigger then the biggest we most recently got - its come apparent that our eldest discus hates a majority of them with a passion. We've had the issue before and seem to sort it out by bucketing all existing discus for a few hours with new arrivals and re-arranging the tank to somewhat - reset the aggression/heirachy. Having said that we had this discus alone (no other discus) for the better part of 9 months of its life - has it got the mentality that it has grown up without friends? Either way my girlfriend and I are sick of the constant chase and 9/10 notice most of our discus hiding bar the dominant, longest standing disc & the runt :screwy:.

Just wondering if you can shed some light on whats going on or what we can do to get our discs happier - we have 6 discus which seems to be the general consensus on forums as a 'good' group number & are in a 3x2x2 with clown loaches, a couple of plecs / l-numbers and celebas rainbows. We have 2x that are 9cm, and 4x 12-15cm.
Also we've got quite a few decorations in the tank - does this not help the situation as ive witnessed with my americans when I strip all decorations they have nothing to defend - territory wise?? Also we've read on forums that the way discus are that the runt always will get picked on - but its the only one thats aloud out which sort of conflicts with what we've read..

Please help my girlfriend is getting upset at the thought she may have to get rid of the dominant discus but im concerned regardless.

Any ideas would help!!!!!

ps - water qual isnt an issue..
