Hello, 1st post yay, I've just bought myself a 3 foot tank and the fish i want is Discus and Angelfish, and I also want them to breed in the same tank. Could you please tell me the ideal things for my tank, E.g. Filter, pH ( 6.5? ) Heat ( 27 degrees c ) plants etc.

Well the only reason i want them to breed is because i want my fish tank full of fish, not a few random discus and a few random angels.

Go for one or the other. Neither are a add water and wait fish. Give them time. How many gallons is the tank??? If it is less than 40 I'd stick to the angels.

If both breed in the same tank at the same time, the tank becomes pretty much a warzone. Both are cichlids and most get overly-protective of their territory and fry.

Well i could just take out the parents into separate tanks, and just let the fry live there.

Depending on what type of angels you are looking at, you will very likely run into a problems of disease. Take the advice given, and STICK TO ONLY ONE.

angels and discus are hard to take care of since the angel is such an aggressive eater compared to teh discus. I have a discus in my tetra tank and i still have to sneak up on him with a syringe of frozen food and squirt some out for him to eat it, and the tetra don't even come to teh top to eat. They (discus) seem to just don't care if anything takes their food, they'll just let it, and starve.

so in the words of WyldFya...just stick to one or the other.

So you would want an overstocked tank with fry? How can you predict that they will even breed? Would you buy a breeding pair? How many gallons. stick to only 1 type. I'd go with discus.
