the wife and i have been talking about switching our 180 gal monster fish wall into a discus and angel tank as this is the center piece of our entire house
for those of you that don't remember last winters project heres the thread

of course this would also mean i get to build a new tank for the current occupants of the 180
good for me

anyways the question at hand is simple
how many discus and angels can i keep in 180 gal tank and which ones should i get

thanks for the help

mike

Well, discuss do better when there are more of them like a shoal i guess. I would go with maybe like 6 or so discuss and a couple angels. And if I dident get the angels i would go with like 10 discuss.

It relly depends on how often you want to change water. I keep a 240 Uniaquarium with about 50 discus in it. I use a constant overflow to keep the water in good condition.

I really like the packed look. This can get expensive though. Discus are not cheap.

that would be awesome to see
is that some sorta drip system
cause i am putting the drip on that tank very soon

Good Choice. Have a similar setup with 6 Brazilian Heckels, 6 Dumerelli/Leopoldi Angels, and One Silver Aro from Colombia, all wild but no plants. If I can find a bigger tank with reasonable $ might put in wild Altums, and Peruvian Scalares in the mix. The Peruvians and Altums are currently in separate tanks.

Best wishes on your plan for Discus/Angel tank.

Yeah it is a drip system it drips about tw gallons an hour and I do a 50% water change once a week still. With it being planted there is a lot of areas where junk gets caught up but my nitrates never get over 10ppm with the drip!
