Has anyone kept these together? Will the discus eat the shrimp?

I tried before to keep japonicas when I had angels and discus, but they made a tasty snack for the angels. I've since replaced the angels with more discus. I figure RCS or other very small caridina/neocaridina shrimps would be easy pickins for the discus, but japonicas are a fair bit bigger than RCS and the like.

Looking for an algae solver in a planted discus tank. I've never had good luck keeping ottos, and I'm not a fan of any pleco types.

Guess it may not work then, I didn't think about chewing off the legs. Japonica are about 50% larger than the largest RCS.

Maybe with discus that have never had live food, but I do treat mine occasionally to guppy or white cloud fry.

discus and shrimps are not working well together as tank mates. even my cardinal tetras still not work too well with my wild discus.

you do know in the wild tetra are food for them

Anyone have any ideas about algae growth on leaves (java fern and amazon sword) in such a setup? Build is 55gal w/ 1adult and 5 2.5" juv discus, 5 glowlight danios and 6 harlequin rasboras as dither, and 4 panda corys on the bottom. Fairly heavily planted tank.
