Discus bloated, need help reducing food

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Discus are not scaleless fish and not salt sensitive within reasonable amounts. In fact salt & salt dips are a preferred choice of medicating before actual meds. But I do agree regular salt will do nothing for bloat; you need epsom salt for that.

Thanks, I did the water change, About 50%. The bloating has completely gone and he/she is back to it's self and colors even though I didn't add epsom salt  I did buy some however just in case.

Do you disolve your cubes before putting in the tank? The pieces are much smaller. Also, I feed my discus 3-4 times a day at minimum. Beefheart, bloodworms, flake and pellet. I always pre-soak the pellets in water then pour in tank. It's easier for the discus to digest.

I let them go very soft before adding the cube, I never add them even partly frozen, I'll start lessening the feed. Thanks.

Thanks and I'm actually starting to love my discus :) One of the best if not THE best fish I've ever had.
